Hanze Ondernemen is the Centre of Expertise (CoE) for Entrepreneurship at Hanze.

Hanze Ondernemen is the Centre of Expertise (CoE) for Entrepreneurship at Hanze. The CoE focuses on multidisciplinary research, developing entrepreneurial talent, and stimulating young entrepreneurship.

When it comes to entrepreneurship, we are the key knowledge partner for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and work to create more and better entrepreneurs in the region and beyond.

Entrepreneurship in Education

At Hanze, students have the opportunity to engage in entrepreneurship during their studies. Students can follow various minors focused on entrepreneurship, graduate based on their own business, and make use of the Top Entrepreneurs Scheme

Each year, the major entrepreneurship event for students in the Northern Netherlands takes place, where the Rabo Entrepreneurship Prize and the Anner Award (both worth €10,000) are presented. This event, called “Take Your Business to the Stage,” is organized together with initiatives, programs, and (alumni) entrepreneurs in Groningen.

In addition, Hanze Entrepreneurship supports several institutes in improving and integrating entrepreneurial thinking and entrepreneurship within academic programs.

Connection with Education

Start-up City (Kadijk 2) is the creative hub on the campus in Groningen where students, lecturers, staff, and the Hanze network can come together in a learning environment where “entrepreneurship and connection” are central. It is the clubhouse where being entrepreneurial is the norm.

Here, connections are made between industry, research, and education, strengthening co-creation and personal development while sharing success stories and challenges. At Start-up City there is space, support, and opportunities for entrepreneurship. Various programs and events are offered for students, lecturers, and schools.
